About The Allied Health Academy

Empowering the future of allied health

The Allied Health Academy is a global academy of allied health professionals and other health workers, policy-makers, funders and stakeholders, dedicated to working together and learning from each other to drive positive changes in allied health.

The Academy operates in a vibrant, interactive community of practice model that spans from the micro to the macro in health by:

  • Developing individual members' skills, networks and knowledge through our Learning Collectives – communities of practice focussed on achieving particular learning objectives and outcomes, through a course of formal learning coupled with ongoing informal learning from experts and peers – and premium courses designed to quickly equip members for the opportunities and challenges they face in allied health today.
  • Collaborating on systemic issues for allied health to develop new and innovative solutions at local, regional and global levels through our Global Collectives – communities of practice on special interest topics, or designed for collaboration between members who represent a particular slice of our larger allied health community.

Founder Dr Susan Nancarrow, a former clinician, executive and professor with over twenty years’ international experience in allied health and higher education, brings her wealth of insights and expertise to The Allied Health Academy’s communities of practice and the specialised learning programs.

Our team delivers comprehensive learning that cater to your career progression needs, while connecting you with peers globally.

Join The Allied Health Academy to elevate your career and become an integral part of our inclusive and supportive community.

Member Benefits

By becoming a member of The Allied Health Academy you will gain the following benefits:

Learn from those who have gone before you – within a Learning Community or a program, this could be through connection with one of our content experts or a more experienced practitioner from your discipline, with direct benefits to your skillset, organisation and clients. Within a Collective, you can learn how other disciplines, jurisdictions or regions have responded to particular challenges, to learn whether a solution could be adopted or adapted for your context, and network with other members (allied health professionals, policy makers, funders) within your region to actually make that happen.

Contribute to the growth and development of others – you entered the health workforce to provide services which benefit your patients, clients and your community. Our communities of practice represent yet another opportunity to contribute to the greater good. Your background, expertise and perspective are things of value, that our other members can benefit from.

Network with colleagues in your region, and internationally – you may find opportunities to work abroad, participate in collaborative research or join working groups to consider and respond to particular issues.

Undertake structured, as well as informal learning – we are not born with the knowledge of how to manage workforce challenges, run a business, pivot our skills for the benefit of our careers, or provide good, ethical governance on a company board. You will have the opportunity to undertake short courses that work to help you quickly address a skills gap, or undertake longer programs using the community of practice model to enable you to bed down and continue to develop your skills through interactions with the content experts, and learning with and from other members of that community.

Connect and collaborate with a diverse community of allied health professionals, industry experts, and business owners to expand your professional network and forge valuable relationships.

Exclusive resources and opportunities: Gain access to industry insights, research findings, customised training solutions, and opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within the health community.

By becoming a member of The Allied Health Academy you’ll gain the knowledge, support, and connection you need to excel in your allied health career, stay ahead of industry changes, and make the largest positive impact you can in your healthcare career.
